The Need

Our
Approach

The Well is patterned after two successful women’s shelters in Saginaw: Emmaus House and Mustard Seed Shelter. We will provide guests with semiprivate rooms – rather than a more traditional shelter dormitory setting – and function as a home where guests form a family.

Each of our guests will develop a customized plan for success that meets them where they are. We believe that by helping them one on one and developing a plan that is right for their circumstances, we can help these men find purpose, meaning and a place in the community.

According to Saginaw’s 2023 Point in Time count, there are approximately 350 individuals experiencing homelessness in Saginaw at any given time. Nationally and locally, men make up the largest portion of individuals experiencing homelessness – 70 percent – and also are the largest percentage of those who remain unsheltered.

In Saginaw, we are blessed to have multiple shelter options, clear evidence that we have a caring and generous community. The Well offers another option for men experiencing homelessness – another piece of the puzzle in helping to end homelessness once and for all.
